NEMA offers six services: public relations, social media, video production, graphic design, web design, and project management. Public relations is the core of the practice. In NEMA's own words: "We tell the public what they need to know, when they need to know it, in a way that captures their attention."

Project management is built into every engagement rather than sold as a separate line. NEMA does not publish rates or pricing; scope and cost are worked out with each client.

For a given engagement, Angie often restructures the six services into a framework specific to that client, for example a brand, voice, and audience foundation followed by media outreach and a social content program. The six services above are the standing menu. Any other framing is a tailored version of them, not a new offering.

Every new engagement starts with research. The team plays the role of a journalist, asking targeted and challenging questions before assuming anything about a client's story. From there the plan is bespoke. What's right for one client isn't right for another.

Once work is underway, clients get a weekly status meeting on all PR activity with clear action steps. Traditional tactics such as press releases and press conferences still matter, and NEMA treats their approach and distribution as a creative problem rather than a routine.

Kristel Hayes, Brand & Content Strategy. Two decades inside Maine's outdoor, startup, small business, and nonprofit communities shaped how Kristel thinks about brands. Her current focus is building brands that stay credible in the age of AI, helping clients sound unmistakably like themselves as machine-made sameness floods every channel. She also runs her own boutique brand and content strategy studio in Portland, Maine, and her community work includes Maine Outdoor Collective now, and How We Do Portland and Great Maine Outdoor Weekend before it.
